Project Title: LA Tour Company
Industry sectors: Business and Finance; Hospitality, Tourism, and Recreation Project Description: Students develop a bus tour company highlighting the community treasures of Los Angeles. Products: ELA- itinerary, in-class essay; Business- business plan; Math- budget and cost analysis; Spanish- promotional video Grade Level: 11 Length: 4-6 weeks Project Title: I Learn America
Industry sector: Arts, Media, and Entertainment Project Description: Students first watch the documentary I Learn America to discuss the immigrant experience. Through learning various story telling techniques and digital storytelling, students share their own immigrant experience story. This project is geared towards immigrant students and English learners. Products: ELA- narrative; Design- digital story Grade Level: 9-12 Length: one semester |
Project Title: Story Behind the Story
Industry sector: Arts, Media, and Entertainment Project Description: Students research the narrative of an iconic American image and analyze the image to develop a counter-narrative. Products: Design- Counter-image using Photoshop or Illustrator; ELA & Social Studies- narrative and counter-narrative essays Grade Level: 11 Length: 6-8 weeks |
